Interpretation:

The $\text{pH}$ value after $\text{0}\text{.10}\text{mol}$ $\text{NaOH}$ is added to $\text{1}\text{L}$ of the solution in Exercise $\text{31}$ and the $\text{pH}$ value after $\text{0}\text{.20}\text{mol}$ $\text{HCl}$ is added to $\text{1}\text{L}$ of the solution in exercise $\text{31}$ is to be calculated.

Concept introduction:

A solution that contains a mixture of a weak acid and its conjugate base is known as a buffer solution.

The $\text{pH}$ value is the measure of ${\text{H}}^{+}$ ions. The $\text{pH}$ is calculated by the formula,

$\text{pH}=-{\log }_{\text{10}}\left[{\text{H}}^{+}\right]$
