The conclusion regarding the allelic relationship between the unspotted and spotted
Introduction:
Pollination is a process of the transfer of the pollen grain from the anther of the male plant to the stigma of the female plant. Self-pollination is a process of the transfer of the pollen grains from the anther of a plant to the stigma of the same plant. The seed collected in the wild was used for the growth of spotted orange flowers, which was then self-fertilized. The resulting offspring included 88 spotted orange, 34 spotted yellow, 32 orange without spots, and 8 yellow without spot flowers.

- Neep help ASAP. A red flowered plant was crossed with a blue flowered plant and produced all purple flowered plants. When the purple flowered plants were crossed with each other they produced 5 red plants, 5 blue plants, 20 deep purple plants, 20 light lilac plants, and 30 purple plants How many genes are involved in the color production? Assume that red color is caused by an A allele and blue color by a B allele and determine the likely genotype of the plants in the F2 generation.arrow_forwardProblem: A homozygous tall, homozygous white flower plant crosses with a homozygous short, homozygous purple flower plant. We know that the purple and tall flowers are the dominant traits. Show your work. What are the phenotypes of the offspring?arrow_forwardTOPIC: GENE INTERACTION AND EPISTASIS Two pure-breeding (homozygous) lines of shrubs were crossed as follows: P1 phenotype red leaves X green leaves P1 genotype ___________ _____________ F1 phenotype 100% green leaves with white flecks F1 genotype ___________ Crossing the F1s produced: F2 phenotypes F2 genotypes 123 green leaves w/ white flecks ____ 44 green leaves ____ 63 red leaves ____arrow_forward
- Tomato Plants In tomato plants, round fruit (R) is dominant to oval fruit (r). Pure breeding plants with red and round fruit (FFRR) were crossed to pure breeding plants with yellow and oval fruit (ffrr). The red and round F1 progeny were then testcrossed to plants that were homozygous recessive for both genes (ffrr) with the following results: Phenotypes Number of Offspring Red and round 2 255 Red and oval 290 Yellow and round 310 Yellow and oval 2 145 Compare the expected probabilities of each phenotype to the observed probabilities. Are the gene for fruit colour and the gene for fruit shape assorting independently? Explain.arrow_forwardKernel color in wheat Red kernel color in wheat results from the interaction between two dominant alleles. With only one dominant allele, the phenotype is brown while in the absence of any dominant allele, the phenotype is white. Suppose that plants of a variety that is true breeding for red kernels are crossed with plants true breeding for white kernels. What specific type of interaction can be observed? A. duplicate dominant genes B. duplicate genes with cumulative effects C. complementary genes D. dominant epistasis (case 2)arrow_forwardComplete the problem below and upload your work here. Partial credit will be considered. In corn, purple kernels (P) are dominant over yellow kernels (p) and round kernels (R) are dominant to wrinkled kernels (r). In a cross of PpRr (purple, round) with a pprr (yellow, wrinkled) plant, the following progeny were observed: Phenotype Observed Expected (O-E) (O-E)2/E Purple, Round 117 Yellow, Round 126 Purple, Wrinkled 130 Yellow, Wrinkled 127 Total=500 Fill out the expected values in the chart above and calculate the Chi-Square value for your table, look up the p value associated with the Chi-Square. How many degrees of freedom do you have in this cross? 2. What is your Chi Square value? 3. What is the p value for this cross and what does your value mean? Make sure to explain the p value clearly in a couple of sentences.arrow_forward
- Suppose Jonathan breeds flowers and wants to optimize production of offspring with both short stems and white flowers, which are coded for by two genes with the recessive alleles t and p, respectively. In flowers, T codes for tall stems and P codes for purple flowers. Jonathan crosses two heterozygotes that produce 544544 offspring. How many of these 544544 offspring are predicted to have both short stems and white flowers? please help solve and please explain thank youarrow_forwardUse Punnett squares in solving the following problems. 1. In garden peas, a plant that is homozygous for round seeds is crossed with a plant that is heterozygous. Interpret the result of the cross. What percentage of plants will have round seeds? What is the chance of the offspring being heterozygous? Give the phenotypic and genotypic ratios. Give the phenotypes and genotypes.
