Introduction:
In a circle, if the motion of any object is at constant speed then motion is termed as Uniform Circular Motion.
In simple harmonic motion, the acceleration of the system, and therefore the net force, is directly related to the displacement and acts in the opposite direction of the displacement.
Simple harmonic motion is defined as oscillation motion if
- Acceleration is always in the opposite direction to the displacement from equilibrium position.
- Acceleration is proportional to the displacement from the equilibrium position.
Both, uniform circular motion plus simple harmonic motions are periodic motions. In case of uniform circular motion, magnitude of acceleration will be constant and which is not the case in Simple Harmonic motion.
Conclusion:
Uniform circular motion plus simple harmonic motion are periodic motions.
