Summary Introduction

Telomerase is an enzyme that adds a sequence of telomere to the chromosomal ends. Eukaryotic cells and the somatic cells contain low concentrations of this enzyme. These enzymes are not used regularly in eukaryotes and so they age resulting in reduction. High concentrations of this enzyme are present in stem cells, cancer cells, and germ line cells.
