To Explain:The effect on the illuminance at a book as the lamp is moved farther away from the book.
Answer to Problem 62A
Illuminance decreases.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Illuminance: It conveysabout how much the light incident on the surface illuminates that surface. It is usually called brightness.
Illuminance at a book decreases as the lamp is moved farther away from the book. This is in agreement with the inverse square law of illumination. As perinverse square law, the illuminance on a surface is inversely related to the square of the distance between the sourceof the light andthe surface which is illuminated.
