Chapter 18.5, Problem 1CC
Summary Introduction
To analyze:
The role of the inverted repeats in the mechanism of transposition.
Introduction:
Repetitive sequences are DNA segments which are repeated several times within a genome. Repetitive sequences can be moderately or highly repetitive and some highly repetitive sequences are clustered together in a tandem array. Tandem arrays are short DNA segment which is repeated many times in a row. Some repetitive sequences are interspersed throughout the genome. Some of these interspersed repetitive sequences are transposable elements which can move throughout the genome. This process is called Transposition.
