Interpretation:
The stereochemistry of the chiral product obtained when 2-butanone reacts with HCN is to be given. Whether the product is optically active or not is to be stated.

A molecule is chiral and optically active if it has a carbon attached to four different groups. When a planar achiral molecule becomes chiral during the course of a reaction, enantiomers will be produced. This is because the reagent can attack the planar compound both from above and below the plane of the molecule.
