Which of the following statements about lactation is false? A) Suckling and/or mechanical stimulation of the breasts causes secretion of prolactin-releasing factor.  B) High levels of estrogen and progesterone inhibit the effect of prolactin on the mammary. C) Both colostrum and breast milk contain antibodies. D) Prolactin stimulates milk production. E) Other hormones responsible for breast growth during pregnancy include growth hormone, parathyroid hormones, and glucocorticoids.
Describe the development of reproductive organs in a fetus of each gender. Which genes, gene products, and hormones are involved in the sex differences? Which sex- related hormones are circulating in high concentrations in a pregnant woman compared to a nonpregnant woman? Do these hormones cross the placenta (if you are uncertain, consider hormone chemical class relative to membrane permeability to make an educated guess)? Assuming these hormones do cross the placenta, how do they affect the hormonal environment inside the fetus, and how does this relate to fetal reproductive development?
What is the expected effect on reproduction on an individual with hormone levels shown above? Identify two physiological changes that will not occur due to the atypical hormone levels shown above.  The graph above shows the estrogen and progesterone levels of an individual during a menstrual cycle of 28 days. The top light blue line indicates the progesterone levels and the bottom purple line indicates the estrogen levels. This individual is in luteal phase. This individual can be expected to have low levels of FSH and LH.
