Question
Chapter 24, Problem 7TYR
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
In acidosis, the pH of urine is observed as 4.5 that is less when compared to the normal urine pH. Hydrogen ions (H+) determine the pH of the solution. Acid condition releases more hydrogen ions in the solution. The renal tubules raise the secretion rate of hydrogen ions in acidosis, and the extra hydrogen ions must be buffered. Hence, in acidosis, more ammonia is secreted by the renal tubules to buffer the extra hydrogen ions, which are excreted through urine.
