Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Meningococcal meningitis is caused by Neisseria meningitidis (N. meningitidis), a Gram-negative bacteria. Human is only the host of this disease, which can be characterized by inflammations of meninges (membrane around the spinal cord or brain). Inflammation of membranes can suddenly begin or develop gradually. N. meningitidis can be inhaled through air droplets. They then attach by pili to the mucousmembranes andmultiply.
