Chapter 37, Problem 7TY
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

The invertebrates have a different process of removing wastes from their bodies. For example, annelids, they have a sequence of tubular filtration arrangement which is termed as Metanephridia. A pair of structure, singular and metanephridium is found in the body segment that consists of a tubular network with a structure that is funnel-like and is termed as nephrostomes. This collects the coelomic fluid in which nitrogenous wastes are present and the other solutes with the help of active transport reabsorbed along the tubules that extend from the nephrostomes and a form capillaries. But the excretory system of insects is different from that of other invertebrates as its excretion takes place through secretion in place of filtration of the fluid with the help of an extensive tube termed as Malpighian tubules. It initiates from the midgut and extended inside the hemolymph.
