Placenta is the organ in a female body that develops during pregnancy only. It is attached to the top wall of the uterus. Basically, with the help of the umbilical cord, the placenta is attached to the fetus. As the mother's blood passes through the placenta, glucose and other nutrients are transferred to the fetus via umbilical cord.
