Chapter 43, Problem 8TYK
Summary Introduction
Introduction: The immune system involves several defense mechanisms like phagocytosis, antibody-mediated immunity, cell-mediated immunity, apoptosis, and complement-mediated immunity. Phagocytosis is a process of engulfing the microbes, like bacteria and defective cell, and destroys them by hydrolytic enzymes. Many types of white blood cells carry out phagocytosis namely neutrophils, macrophages, monocytes, and dendritic cells.
