Summary Introduction

To complete: The table that summarizes the functions of the cells and chemicals of the innate defense mechanisms of mammals.

Introduction: The immune system protects the body from the invading pathogenic organisms. The immune system is classified into two types, namely the innate immune system and adaptive immune system. The innate immune system is the defense mechanism found already from the birth whereas the adaptive immune system is acquired at the later stages of life when exposed to antigens. The white blood cells that involve in innate immunity are natural killer cells, mast cells, eosinophils, basophils, macrophages, neutrophils, and dendritic cells.
