In a period, on moving from left to right atomic radii decreases. On moving from left to right across in a period, electrons are added to the outermost orbital and protons are added to the nucleus. Protons increases the positive charge in the nucleus and thus nucleus pull the electrons very tight.
On moving left to right across in a period electrons are added to the outermost orbital and protons are added to the nucleus thus in a period from left to right atomic radii decreases.
