Question
Chapter 8, Problem 23RQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
The effects of the following molecules on gluconeogenesis:
a. Lactate
b. ATP (adenosine triphosphate)
c. Pyruvate
d. Glycerol
e. AMP (adenosine monophosphate)
f. Acetyl Co-A (acetyl coenzyme A)
Introduction:
The process by which new molecules of glucose are formed from the noncarbohydrate molecule, such aspyruvate, glycerol, lactate, and alpha keto acids, is called gluconeogenesis. The process of gluconeogenesis takes place in the liver and kidneysunder certain conditions.
