Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation :

The conditions that can be changed to alter a chemical demonstration must be explained.

Concept Introduction :

A chemical demonstration is a special presentation of some chemicals and their properties practically. Different parameters like heat, light, electric spark etc are associated with chemical reactions.

Answer to Problem 2E

Physical parameters like heat, light, electric spark addition of special agents can be changed to alter a chemical demonstration.

Explanation of Solution

Some reactions are heat sensitive and some are light sensitive. So these can be manipulated during the chemical demonstration. In one case there will be the desired visual change and in other case it will be blank. For example, an unsaturated alkene like ethylene can be reacted with red bromine water. Colorless solution will be generated. But same experiment can be repeated with saturated alkane like hexane. Then there will be no change in red color of bromine water. Thus various conditions can be changed to alter a chemical demonstration.
