Ecogenetics is a branch of genetics that deals with the genetic variation that underlies reactive differences to drugs, chemicals in food, occupational exposure, industrial pollution, and other substances. Cases have arisen in which workers claim that exposure to a certain agent has made them feel ill, whereas other workers are unaffected. Although claims like these are not always justified, what are some concrete examples that prove that variation in reactions to certain substances exist in the human population?

Summary Introduction

To explain:  Some concrete real life examples which proves that variations in reactions to certain substances exist in human population.

Introduction: Differences in people’s responses to environmental factors due to variation in genetics of different individuals are all included in ectogenetics. All human beings have variations in their genomes that affect their body’s response towards different types of environmental agents. These agents can include the man-made entities also.

Explanation of Solution

Environmental factors affect different individuals in a different manner. Each individual reacts to these environmental factors in a separate manner based on their genome. Variations in these responses towards the same factor in different individual arise because of the genetic variations that are present in human genome of each individual.

One such example of varied response of human beings towards the same environmental factor includes the use of parathion, an insecticide that has been widely used in United States...
