Oxygen-evolving system is areaction thatinvolves the evolution of molecular oxygen as a result of lysis of water molecule. It is carried out by OEC (Oxygen-Evolving Complex) or water-splitting complex. OEC oxidizes water in the presence of light. It also contains metalloenzyme core, which contains calcium and manganese.
