Concept explainers
Reason behind the image of sun when the sun itself has already set.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
When light travels from one medium to other medium, that time light rays get deviated from its path. This phenomenon is known as refraction.
Due to refraction, light rays bend in the atmosphere due to which image of sun is seen just above the horizon when the sun itself has already set.
Conclusion: Image of sun is seen just above the horizon when the sun itself has already set because of refraction.
