Photosynthesis is the process by which light energy is captured and then stored as chemical energy in the bonds of organic molecules such as sugar. It is the most amazing process that provides not only fuel but also the oxygen required to use this fuel efficiently. In lakes, photosynthesis is performed by certain bacteria and on land mostly performed by plants. Photosynthesis in plants occurs in the chloroplast.
