Chapter 7.3, Problem 2TC
Summary Introduction
To describe: The advantages of producing ethanol from cellulose other than those crops rich in sugar like corn.
Introduction: Fossil fuels are non-renewable and have adverse effects on the environment. Biofuels like ethanol serves as an alternate for fossil fuels. It is obtained from plants with high sugar contents such as corn and sugar cane by fermentation process. Fermentation is defined as the breakdown of complex sugar molecules into simpler substances by microorganisms like bacteria and yeast under anaerobic conditions.
