Concept Introduction:
An unstable nucleus emits radiation in order to gain stability. This is known as radioactive emission. Some of the frequent emissions that happen in unstable nucleus is the emission of an alpha particle, beta particle and a gamma ray.
Alpha particle is the helium nucleus. Beta particle is similar to that of an electron. Gamma radiation is a high energy radiation similar to X-ray.
