The connection between benzopyrene and cancer is significant because benzopyrene is a polycyclic aromatic compound which is made during the combustion of certain substances like automobile emissions, over broiled food and cigarettes. Researches have proven that benzopyrene has caused the speeding of tumor growths in people prone to having cancer.

Benzopyrene mutates certain DNA strands of cells which reduces their tumor suppression ability which increases the risk of cancer.
