Criticize the statement‘roots do not need oxygen to survive’.
Introduction:
The plant or the tree made up of two major system, root and shoot system. The shoot system is the part of plant present above the ground and the roots system is the part of plant present in the ground.
Explanation of Solution
Every plant cell, including the root cells require the aerobic respiration. For the aerobic respiration to occur the root cells need oxygen. The root cells obtain this oxygen from the air present between the soil particles and hence, it can be said that roots need oxygen to survive.
