The importance of radicle for the embryo.
Introduction:
Biodiversity is defined as the variety of life in an area determined by the number of different species in that area. Biodiversity maintains a healthy biosphere and increases the stability of an ecosystem. Biodiversity is often lost in an environment due to which the abiotic and biotic factors that require a healthy ecosystem are no longer available.
Explanation of Solution
Forests play an important role in preventing soil erosion. The roots of the trees hold the soil in place and increases the absorption of runoff water. They also act as natural barriers to floods. A healthy ecosystem thus provides protection against floods and droughts, maintain the fertility of soil and regulate the climate of a region. If the forest is used for housing development, it would result in a lot of trees being cleared for construction purposes. Thus it would lead to a lot of runoff water going into the streams and rivers resulting in the rise in the water level. This may indirectly cause floods and erosion and cause damage to properties.
Trees absorb runoff water from rain and act as natural barriers against floods. The destruction of forests would result in frequent floods and other problems.
