Introduction:Fertilization is just the beginning of a long phase that concludes finally with seed forming. A seed in anthophytes is part of a fruit that grows from the ovary, and also from other organs of the flower.

Explanation of Solution

A specialized cell in the ovary of a pistil undergoes meiosis which produces four megaspores. Three of these megaspores usually disintegrate and vanish. The functional megaspores nucleus is undergoing meiosis. The mitotic division begins, and the megaspores expand until a large cell of eight nuclei is present.Two nuclei move towards the center, and the other six nuclei form membranes. The result is three nuclei at each end of the cell and the two nuclei are called polar nuclei in the middle. Each of the three nuclei nearest to the Micropyle ending is the egg.

The sporophyte starts as a Zygote. Various cellular divisions create a cluster of cells that ultimately grow into an elongated embryo in monocots with one cotyledon or in dicots and eudicots with two cotyledons. The cell 3n produced by double fertilization is subjected to cell divisions. As a product of these divisions, a tissue called the endosperm develops and provides nutrients for the embryo.
