Introduction:
The tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle) is also called as the citric acid cycle (CAC). This metabolic pathway generates electron carriers by oxidizing acetyl-Coenzyme A molecules. The electron carriers are then consumed to generate ATP (adenosine triphosphate), a form of energy, in the mitochondria through the process of oxidative phosphorylation.
