Chapter 9, Problem 56TQ
Summary Introduction

To review:

The reason due to which oxaloacetate is not produced from acetyl-CoA (coenzyme A) during aerobic exercise, and the source of oxaloacetate during aerobic activity.

Introduction:

During aerobic exercise, a large amount of energy is used. Thus, a large amount of oxaloacetate is required by the body to produce energy. Oxaloacetate can be produced from acetyl-CoA, and the reaction is catalyzed by pyruvate carboxylase. However, during exercise, acetyl-CoA cannot be used to produce oxaloacetate.

This is a conjectural question: If the reactive part of coenzyme A is the thioester, why is the molecule socomplicated?
True or False.  The Krebs cycle is considered to be an anabolic pathway because some of the reactions are considered reversible.
What would be the fate of oxaloacetate if there were sufficient fluoroacetate present?
