Chapter 17, Problem 5IQ

a.

Summary Introduction

To explain: The meaning of saying that tRNA is a translator.

Introduction: The genetic information of DNA is based in the nucleotide base sequences. These sequences are transcribed into mRNA triplets and are called codons. After transcription, mRNA sequences are read by tRNA in the ribosome to synthesize polypeptides, and the process is known as translation. tRNA molecules have an anticodon that pairs with its complementary codon during translation. As a result, the codon-specific amino acid comes through the other end of the tRNA. These amino acids form a polypeptide chain.

b.

Summary Introduction

To fill: The given table using some of the codons and the amino acids.

Introduction: The genetic information of DNA is encrypted in the nucleotide base sequences. These sequences are transcribed into mRNA triplets and are called codons. These mRNA triplet nucleotides are then translated to form a polypeptide.
