Chapter 19, Problem 5TY
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

If organisms share a common ancestor they can often exhibit structures present in their ancestral forms. In some organisms such structures can be identified in developmental stages. They appear in some developmental stage of the embryo and then disappear. This field is called as developmental homology since similarity between developmental structures of one species and normal structure of another species is analyzed. Presence of these structures is strong evidence in support of evolution.
