Concept explainers
(a)
Interpretation:
Condensed structural formulas of the functional group isomers of 2-methyl-1-propanol that are ethers have to be drawn.
Concept Introduction:
Functional group isomerism is the one in which the functional group of two compounds are totally different but the molecular formula of the compounds remains the same. Ethers and alcohols that have same number of carbon atoms and same degree of saturation can have functional group isomerism. This is a type of constitutional isomerism.
(b)
Interpretation:
Condensed structural formulas of the functional group isomers of 1-ethoxyethane that are alcohols have to be drawn.
