Answer to Problem 9E

Rutherford explains that a negatively charged electrons cloud is present around a tiny positive mass called the nucleus. In Rutherford’s model, the mass of an atom is concentrated into the center of an atom known as nucleus and electrons surround the positive mass.

Explanation of Solution

Niels Bohr proposed the “SOLAR SYSTEM” model of the atom, also known as Rutherford-Bohr model because he introduces few changes in the Rutherford model. This model is similar to a solar system: An electron revolves around the nucleus like planets in the solar system. According to this model, the position of electrons around the nucleus is in certain circular orbits.
