Explanation of Solution

Carbon is a solid, as it occurs in many organic and inorganic compounds. It exists as allotropes like Diamond, Graphite and as the main constituent of coal, petroleum, etc. All the elements can be classified based on their physical states like solid, liquid and gas. Carbon is a non-metal, located in the periodic table in group 14. It is solid at room temperature. It forms covalent bonds with similar atom and other atoms also.
