The process of using two or more atoms or molecules to form a complex product is known as chemical synthesis.

Explanation of Solution

There are number of chemical compounds which are produced using a chemical synthesis. The starting material of a chemical synthesis process is known as a reactant.

Two or reactants can react to form product. The chemical synthesis generally takes place by variety of reagents and reaction conditions. The most favored mechanism is the one which use minimum amount or types of reagents.

The example of a chemical synthesis is formation of ester from alcohol and acid. This is known as esterification reaction.
