Introduction:
Oxygen is the one of the most dangerous molecules and is a diradical. It can form highly reactive and unstable molecules, causing significant damage to the living cell. It is extremely abundant on Earth and is easily diffusible. On the contrary, various other electron acceptors are not diffusible, like nitrate. It accepts electron easily in its diradical formthatresults in the formation of highly reactive metabolites called reactive oxygen species or ROS. ROS are generated by the mitochondrial electron transport system or ETC.
