Concept explainers
To identify:
The three types of muscles and classify them as voluntary and involuntary muscle.
Introduction:
Muscle is very soft tissue ad is found in most animals. The protein filaments found in muscles are actin and myosin filaments. These filaments slide over each other to produce muscular contraction. Three types of muscles in body are, smooth, skeletal, and cardiac muscle.
Explanation of Solution
Smooth muscle − It is a type of muscle tissue that is made of smooth muscle cells. Smooth muscle is found in hollow organs like intestines and stomach. It is involuntary muscle.
Cardiac muscle − Cardiac muscle is also termed as heart muscle. It is a striated and involuntary muscle and forms the main muscles in the heart.
Skeletal muscle − It is a striated muscle and is under voluntary control. It is controlled by somatic nervous system. These muscles are attached to bones and help them move.
