    1Melanin
    2Sebaceous gland
    3Keratin
    4Hair follicles

Explanation of Solution

Melanin is a pigment that is present in skin cells. This pigment is brownish in color and has the capability to absorb the harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Sebaceous glands or oil glands are responsible for the production of natural oils that maintains the outermost layer of skin and keep the hair follicles healthy.

Keratin is a protein that is found in the outer layer of the skin. This protein forms a coat on the skin and makes the skin waterproof as well as protects the tissues underneath.

A hair follicle is a narrow groove that serves as a root for the hair and it is the portion of the skin from where the hair grows.

Epidermis is the outermost thin layer of skin that is made up of dead keratinized cells. This layer protects the soft structures and tissue present beneath it. Below the epidermis, a layer called dermis is present; it is thicker and soft.
