To analyze:
The four types of body tissues in the integumentary system, and their functions.
Introduction:
The largest organ of the body is the skin. It has 20 square feet of total area. Its main function is to protect animals from microbes, harmful elements, regulate the body temperature, and allows sense of touch, cold, and heat.
Explanation of Solution
A tissue is a group of cells that has its own specific function. The four basic types of tissues in the body are:
1. Epithelial tissue − It forms a protective layer and helps in the diffusion of molecules and ions.
2. Connective tissue − It is beneath other tissue types and supports other tissues types.
3. Muscle tissue − It contracts to make movement in the body.
4. Nervous tissue − It helps in the transmission of information from CNS and PNS.
