Chapter 32.3, Problem 5MI
Summary Introduction
To distinguish: Voluntary and involuntary muscle.
Introduction:
Muscle is very soft tissue and is found in most animals. The protein filaments found in muscles are actin and myosin filaments. These filaments slide over each other to produce muscular contraction. Three types of muscles in body are, smooth, skeletal, and cardiac muscle.
Expert Solution & Answer
Explanation of Solution
Difference between voluntary and involuntary muscle is shown as below:
Voluntary muscle | Involuntary muscle |
These muscles are controlled by the one’s will. Skeletal muscles are the voluntary muscles. | Muscle that cannot be controlled by one’s will are termed as involuntary muscle. Smooth and cardiac muscles are involuntary muscles. |
Somatic nerves innervate these muscles. | Autonomic nervous system controls these muscles. |
