Concept explainers
To define:
Smooth muscle, involuntary muscles, cardiac muscle, skeletal muscle, voluntary muscle, tendon, myofibril, myosin, actin, and sarcomere.
Explanation of Solution
Smooth muscle:It is a type of muscle which lacks striation and are involuntary.
Involuntary muscles: These muscles are not directed by will and consciously controlled.
Cardiac muscle: These are the muscles of heart. They are transversely striped and involuntarily controlled.
Skeletal muscle: It is a muscle that is connected with the skeleton, that is bone and cartilage and they help in locomotion and movement. They are generally controlled constantly.
Voluntary muscle:These muscles are directed by will and consciously controlled.
Tendon: It is a fibrous connective tissue that is responsible for bones to the muscles.
Myofibril:It is a basic structure of the muscle that is rod like. Many myofibrils are chained together to form the myocytes or a muscle fiber.
Myosin and Actin:Myosin is a motor protein most that is involved in muscle contraction. Actin is a spherical protein which forms filaments and are also responsible for the contraction of muscles.
Sarcomere: It is a contractile unit of the muscle that is composed of actin and myosin filaments.
