Introduction:
The lung is the vital organ in the respiratory system. It is a spongy, paired organ found in the thorax and is involved in the respiration process, homeostasis of pH, maintenance of blood pressure, and temperature. Respiration is the process of exchange of gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from the lungs. There are two lungs the left and the right lungs. Each lung is subdivided into several lobes. There is also hilum which lies in the medial surface that has orifices for structures to pass to and from the lung.
