The Valence shell electron pair repulsion theory (VSEPR) can be used to predict the shape of the molecule and the bond angles. Each atom in a molecule will occupy a geometry that minimizes the repulsion between electrons in the valence shell of the atoms. So, molecular geometry and the bond angles can be predicted by a number of groups attached to a central atom and the number of lone pairs on it.
