Concept explainers
Interpretation:
Explanations should be given to how D-glucose and D-fructose are related and how D-galactose and D-fructose are related each other.
Concept Introduction:
Isomers can be divided in to two major groups, constitutional isomers and stereo isomers. In constitutional isomers there are different bond connections between atoms. Functional group also can be varied in this type of isomers. Stereo isomers are molecules with same molecular formula and different arrangement of atoms in space and they can be divided into two groups, enantiomers and diastereomers. Enantiomers are isomers which are mirror images of each other. Diastereomers are isomers which are not mirror images of each other.
