Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The most stable conformation of
Concept introduction:
Each substituent attached to a cyclohexane ring in an equatorial position, the chair conformation, is most stable than in an axial position. In the disubstituted cyclohexane, the substituents which are on the same side of the ring are cis to each other. Substituents that are cis to each other in one chair conformation remain cis after the chair flip. If there are more than one substituent attached to cyclohexane, the conformation in which maximum substituents are in the equatorial position is more stable than the axial position.
