Concept introduction:
The steps to draw the chair conformation of cyclohexane are as follows:
- Draw the front and back bonds so that they are parallel.
- Draw two more sets of parallel lines to complete the ring.
- Bonds should all zigzag around the ring.
- Add the axial bond to the C at the head of the chair so that it points up. Then add the rest of the axial bonds alternating up and down.
- Draw equatorial bonds alternating up and down. The three on the left should point left, and the three on the right should point right.
