Concept explainers
Interpretation: Early finish time of Task C is to be determined.
Concept Introduction: Critical path is the arrangement of project activities which gives an estimate time duration under which project will be completed. The project activities may include float activities which can be delayed focusing on the shortest time duration.
PERT diagram is a graphical project management tool used to organize and analyze project and it’s activity. It defines time duration for a project and also for each activity in a project.
Early start time: The rule for early start time of a task is that it is equal to largest early finish time of the task’s immediate predecessors.
Early finish time: The early finish time of a task is addition of both task time and early start time of the task.
Late start time: The late start time of a task can be computed by subtracting task time and late finish time of the project.
Late finish time: The rule for late finish time of a task is that it is equal to the smallest late start time of the task’s immediate follower.
It is given that there are two immediate predecessors for Task C,that is, Task A and Task B. It is given that early finish time of task A is 3 days and task B is 5 days.

Practical Operations Management
- A project has a budget of $300,000 and is expected to last 10 months, with the work results and budget spread evenly across all months. The project just completed its 3rd month, the work is on schedule, and $65,000 has been spent. What is the cost variance? How efficient (in %) must work progress be to complete on time and within budget?arrow_forwardThere are six processes in the project time management knowledge area. How do these processes interact in the creation of the project schedule?arrow_forwardYou have prepared the following schedule for a project in which the key resource is a backhoe. This schedule is contingent on having 3 backhoes. You receive a call from your partner, Brooker, who desperately needs 1 of your backhoes. You tell Brooker you would be willing to let him have the backhoe if you are still able to complete your project in 11 months. Develop a resource schedule to see if it is possible to complete the project in 11 months with only 2 backhoes. Activities 5 and 6 require 2 backhoes, while activities 1, 2, 3, and 4 require 1 backhoe. No splitting of activities is possible.arrow_forward
- Task C is directly preceded by two tasks–task A and task B. Task A has an expected task completion time of five weeks and an ES time of week 6. Task B has an expected task completion time of seven weeks and an ES time of week 7. Task C has an expected task completion time of 10 weeks.
