The glycemic index of sucrose is just $\text{64}$ while it is digested rapidly. The reason of low glycemic index is due to its constituents. Sucrose is a equimolar mixture of glucose and fructose. The fructose has a low glycemic index as compared to the glucose due to which the overall glycemic index of sucrose is lower than expected even if it is rapidly absorbed inside the body and hence the blood.
