The most widely occurring steroids are named as cholesterol. It can be isolated by the extraction of nearly all animal tissues. Also, the intermediate in serving the biosynthesis of all the steroids of the body is known as cholesterol. It is essential to life in many aspects which are explained below.

The ingestion of cholesterol in human body is important as its content is very less when humans ate not at all but the total cholesterol is more than if humans ate none at all. Therefore, more cholesterol is present in the body than the amount which is necessary for steroid biosynthesis.

Therefore, the cholesterol in the body plays an important role and thus, to be present in the body.
