Summary Introduction
To review:
The definition of the following terminologies:
(a) Competitive inhibitor
(b) Uncompetitive inhibitor
(c) Noncompetitive inhibitor
(d) Reversible inhibition
(e) Irreversible inhibition
Introduction:
An inhibitor is any substance or molecule that inhibits or stops reaction catalysis. These can be drugs, poisons, antibiotics, food preservatives, and metabolites of normal biochemical processes. The mechanism of inhibiting a reactionis commonly referred to as enzyme inhibition. It can be reversible or irreversible.
